Rashmika Mandanna was born on 5 April 1996 in Virajpet, in the Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka, into a Kodava family. She completed her schooling at Coorg Public School and later studied at M. S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Bengaluru. She entered the public eye after winning the Clean & Clear Fresh Face of India modelling contest in 2014.

She belongs to a Kodava (Coorgi) Hindu family from Karnataka. She is fluent in several languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English, which has helped her work comfortably across multiple film industries.

Rashmika Mandanna is married to actor Vijay Deverakonda. After years of speculation about their relationship — the pair having co-starred in Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019) — the two got engaged in a private ceremony in October 2025 and married on 26 February 2026 in Udaipur. Earlier in her career, Rashmika was briefly engaged to Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty in 2017, though the engagement was later called off.
