Battle of Galwan
Storyline
Set high in the Himalayas along the Line of Actual Control, the film revisits the events of June 2020, when soldiers of the Indian Army’s 16 Bihar Regiment held their ground against a far larger opposing force in the Galwan Valley. Told from the perspective of the men on the front line and their commanding officer, it depicts the courage, sacrifice and brotherhood of a unit thrust into a brutal high-altitude confrontation. The story is framed as a tribute to the soldiers who defended the border that night.
Production
Battle of Galwan is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner, with distribution by Jio Studios. The film was photographed by Fasahat Khan and edited by Steven H. Bernard. After principal photography and a further schedule of reshoots, the project was retitled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, and is planned for a 2026 theatrical release.
Music
The music is credited to a group of composers including Himesh Reshammiya, Ayaan Lall, Shamir Tandon and Kumar Gaurav Singh, providing songs and score to match the film’s patriotic war setting.
