The Bhootnii

At St. Vincent College in Delhi, a beloved campus legend surrounds the "Virgin Tree," where students pray on Valentine’s Day in hopes of finding true love. But the tree carries a darker secret: every year a student mysteriously dies, their soul claimed by a spirit named Mohabbat, whose idea of love has curdled into obsession and rage. When the hauntings escalate, a seasoned parapsychologist arrives to unravel the mystery and confront the ghost, in a story that mixes campus comedy with supernatural scares.

The Bhootnii was written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev and produced by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt under the Soham Rockstar Entertainment banner, with distribution by Zee Studios. Its theatrical release was pushed from mid-April to 1 May 2025 to allow for post-production and visual-effects work, and the film later began streaming on ZEE5.

In keeping with its comedy-horror mix, The Bhootnii pairs its scares with a light, contemporary soundtrack, using songs and score to swing between spooky atmosphere and campus fun.

The Bhootnii released on 1 May 2025 and underperformed at the box office. Reviews were mixed to negative: audiences praised some of the performances, particularly Sanjay Dutt and Palak Tiwari, but many felt the film leaned too far into comedy at the expense of its horror and stumbled on plot and execution.
