When the reclusive billionaire Ranjeet Dobriyal dies, a colossal fortune is up for grabs — and three men, each conveniently named to fit the will, turn up aboard a lavish cruise claiming to be his rightful heir. As DNA tests loom and their wives scramble to keep the charade alive, the doctor set to settle the matter is found murdered, plunging the ship into a chaotic whodunit. Amid the slapstick, everyone becomes a suspect, and the film famously released with two alternate endings that name different culprits.

Housefull 5 was directed by Tarun Mansukhani, with story and screenplay by Sajid Nadiadwala and additional writing by Farhad Samji and Mansukhani. It was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. The film was photographed by V. Manikandan and edited by Rameshwar S. Bhagat, running about 165 minutes. As a gimmick suited to its murder-mystery hook, it was released in two versions — labelled 5A and 5B — with different endings.

The soundtrack was assembled from several composers, including Yo Yo Honey Singh, Sachin-Jigar, Tanishk Bagchi and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, keeping to the franchise’s mix of dance numbers and high-energy party tracks.

Housefull 5 released on 6 June 2025 and was a commercial success, grossing around ₹242.8 crore worldwide. Critical reaction was largely negative: reviewers found the humour and screenplay thin and raised concerns over objectification, though the novelty of the dual-ending format drew some interest.
