Jaat

When a mysterious military man demands a simple apology from a gang of local goons, his refusal to back down draws him into open war with Ranatunga, a former Sri Lankan militant who now runs a brutal criminal empire along the Andhra coast. As the stranger digs deeper, he uncovers the atrocities Ranatunga’s outfit has inflicted on ordinary people — including women in uniform. Revealed to be Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh of the Jat Regiment, he sets out to dismantle the crime lord’s network piece by piece and deliver a reckoning the region has long been denied.

Jaat marked the Hindi-cinema debut of Telugu filmmaker Gopichand Malineni, who both wrote and directed it. It was produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, T. G. Vishwa Prasad, Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers, Zee Studios and People Media Factory banners. The film was photographed by Rishi Punjabi and edited by Naveen Nooli, running about 153 minutes, and was mounted as a large-scale mass action vehicle for Sunny Deol.

The music and background score were composed by Thaman S, whose high-energy sound underscores the film’s action set pieces and hero-elevation moments.

Jaat released theatrically on 10 April 2025 and grossed around ₹119 crore. Critical reaction was mixed: reviewers highlighted Sunny Deol’s star presence and the film’s explosive mass-action sequences, while others found the violence excessive and the storytelling thin.
