Storyline
In 14th-century western India, the sacred Somnath Temple stands in the path of an advancing Tughlaq army. Kesari Veer follows the young Rajput warrior Hamirji Gohil, who takes up the fight to protect the shrine and the people who revere it. Alongside the seasoned Vegdaji, he rallies a resistance against the invading commander Zafar Khan, in a story of sacrifice and valour built around the temple’s defence.
Production
Kesari Veer was directed by Prince Dhiman, co-directed by Kanubhai Chauhan, and written by Chauhan with Shitiz Srivastava. It was produced by the Chauhan family under Chauhan Studios, with distribution by Panorama Studios. The film was photographed by Vikas Joshi and edited by Satya Sharma, and was staged as a period war drama centred on the historical siege of Somnath.
Music
The music and background score were composed by Monty Sharma, leaning on a grand, traditional sound to match the film’s medieval battlefield setting.
Reception
Kesari Veer released theatrically on 23 May 2025. It underperformed at the box office and drew largely poor reviews, with critics faulting the screenplay, execution and visual effects despite the ambition of its historical subject.
