Sky Force

Set during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, Sky Force follows an Indian Air Force squadron’s retaliatory strike on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase. Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja leads the raid, in which pilot T. Krishna Vijaya — known as “Tabby” — goes missing in action. In the years afterward, Ahuja works to uncover what happened to his comrade and to have his role in the mission recognised, with the narrative moving between the 1965 operation and its aftermath.

Sky Force was directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Amar Kaushik, Bhaumik Gondaliya and Dinesh Vijan under the Jio Studios and Maddock Films banners. Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran handled the cinematography and A. Sreekar Prasad edited the film. Made on a budget of around ₹160 crore, it was shot over roughly 100 days across Mumbai, Lucknow, Sitapur, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pathankot and the United Kingdom between May 2023 and April 2024. The film runs 125 minutes.

The songs of Sky Force were composed by Tanishk Bagchi, marking his debut as a film composer, with the background score by Justin Varghese. The lyrics were written by Irshad Kamil, Manoj Muntashir and Shloke Lal.

Sky Force released in theatres on 24 January 2025, including in IMAX, 4DX, D-Box and ICE formats, and grossed an estimated ₹168.88 crore worldwide — about ₹155.18 crore in India and ₹13.7 crore overseas. Critical reception was mixed, with reviews ranging from roughly 2.5 to 4 stars; critics praised the restrained treatment of its patriotic subject and the lead performances, while some criticised the pacing of the narrative and the heavy use of CGI in the aerial sequences.
