Chhorii 2
Official Trailer
Storyline
Seven years after the events of the first film, Sakshi has built a quiet life with her daughter Ishani — until the girl is taken by a village cult tied to supernatural forces. Sakshi returns to the remote heartland where her ordeal began, joined by Inspector Samar, to track down the child. There she confronts Daasi Maa and a circle of patriarchal elders who conduct sacrificial rituals in the name of tradition. As the spirits of murdered women rally around her, Sakshi is pushed to the edge in a fight to break the cult’s hold and bring Ishani home.
Production
Chhorii 2 was directed by Vishal Furia, who also returns from the original and co-wrote the sequel with Ajit Jagtap. It was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Vikram Malhotra under the T-Series Films and Abundantia Entertainment banners. The film was photographed by Anshul Chobey and edited by Abhishek Ojha, with a runtime of about 134 minutes. It continues the franchise’s blend of folk horror and social commentary on patriarchy and the treatment of women in rural India.
Music
In keeping with its folk-horror mood, Chhorii 2 leans on an atmospheric background score rather than a conventional song album, using sound design and eerie ambience to build dread across its rural setting.
Reception
Chhorii 2 premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video on 11 April 2025. Critical reaction was mixed: reviewers praised Nushrratt Bharuccha’s and Soha Ali Khan’s performances and the film’s social messaging around gender and superstition, while others felt the scripting was uneven and the scares and visual effects did not fully land.
