Oh My God
Official Trailer
Plot
Kanji Lalji Mehta is a witty, non-believing Gujarati shopkeeper who profits from selling idols of gods he openly mocks. When a sudden earthquake levels only his shop, his insurer denies the claim citing an "act of God" clause. Pushed to ruin, Kanji takes the bold step of suing God in a court of law, naming prominent religious leaders and temples as God's earthly representatives. What begins as one man's desperate fight for compensation snowballs into a fierce public debate on superstition, blind faith and religious profiteering — until a calm, enigmatic stranger named Krishna arrives to change his life and the case forever.
Themes
OMG is a sharp social satire that separates genuine devotion from the commercialisation of religion. Through Kanji's courtroom battle, the film questions blind ritualism, fear-driven faith and the godmen who exploit it, while ultimately affirming a personal, humane relationship with the divine over fearful worship.
Cast & Performances
Paresh Rawal anchors the film as Kanji, delivering one of his most acclaimed performances. Akshay Kumar plays the serene, charismatic Krishna Vasudev Yadav, while Mithun Chakraborty appears as the flamboyant godman Leeladhar Swamy and Govind Namdev as Siddheshwar Maharaj.
